Techmute.com is written by Matt Davis, a Unix and Storage Specialist living and working in Bloomington, IL. His current responsibilities include AIX, several Cisco SAN fabrics, a pair of CLARiiONs, a pair of Symmetrixes, and several Centera CAS devices.
Matt implemented his company’s first fully virtualized AIX 5.3L architecture from the ground up, including integration with backup/recovery environment (TSM), security provisioning environment (LDAP), and implementing automated OS deployment and update (NIM). Prior to this, AIX did not exist at this company.
Prior to Unix and Storage administration at his current job, he spent 5 years with the Corporate Windows Server support group. Matt primarily specialized in automation (vbscript), end-to-end architecture, DotNet, and standardized OS builds using the HP SmartStart Scripting toolkit. He also did a brief tour of duty as an IT Architect, responsible for the overall technical architecture of several key efforts.
He has previously worked as a COBOL/JCL tutor, a Unix programmer, and a bartender. He still wishes he could run BeOS at home.
